Celebrating Innovation: King’s Award Presentation 2024
In May of this year, Alfred H Knight (AHK) was recognised with a King’s Award for Enterprise, a prestigious business accolade acknowledging excellence in Innovation. On the 1st of November, AHK welcomed special guests of the region to witness the presentation of the King’s Award.
The event was the first of five ceremonies across Merseyside to officially present recipients with their Kings Award certificates and awards. Of the two hundred and fifty-two businesses that received a King’s Award for Enterprise, twenty-seven were in the North West.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, Mr Mark Blundell, and the High Sheriff of Merseyside, Professor John Mohin OBE, led the prestigious ceremony. Colleagues learned more about the Kings Award for Enterprise and the potential other categories AHK could apply for with Deputy Lieutenant Julie Lawson BEM DL reading the official grant of appointment.
The dignitaries were joined by fellow Deputy Lieutenant Lesley Martin-Wright and clerk to the Lieutenancy Helen Tanzey. Also in attendance for the presentation were Knowsley Council Leader Graham Morgan and Executive Director Dale Millburn.
Ian Baxter welcomed everyone and introduced Mr Mark Blundel, who highlighted Alfred H Knight’s industry achievements and the significance of the award.
“The global collaboration and the expertise involved show this is an indeed ‘real world’ operational story, covering the industrial application of technology by a company that lives and breathes quality.” — Mr Mark Blundell, Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside.
Tom Walder was pleased to accept the award, emphasising AHK’s commitment to innovation and pride in receiving such a prestigious award.
“The event proved to be a great opportunity to celebrate the contributions of all those involved in making In-Track a resounding success. The prestige of receiving a King’s Award for Enterprise is a testament to the collaboration, expertise and ambition fostered by so many colleagues around the Group and is an indisputable example of what AHK does best!” — Thomas Walder, COO at Alfred H Knight.
Alfred H Knight received this recognition for its successful digitisation of complex inspection services in support of the African metals and minerals sector, where AHK developed a mobile technology solution called ‘In-Track’ to digitise inspection services across global supply chains.
This project has improved data accuracy and operational efficiency in real-time and combines multiple technologies to deliver vast inspection data globally — enabling same-day data reconciliation and advanced material tracking.
“I am extremely proud to be presented with the King’s Award for Enterprise in recognition of the collaborative innovative efforts of the Alfred H Knight team who developed the In-Track solution. On behalf of the Executive management team, I would like to pay tribute to the energy, collaboration, and commitment that each of you provides to ensure the business continues to deliver world-class solutions and customer service.” — Ian Baxter, CEO at Alfred H Knight.
Alfred H Knight would like to extend a huge thank you and congratulations to our colleagues who were involved in the development of this project and to those who attended the presentation event to celebrate our collective achievement.
