Sample Preparation Coordinator

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Sample Preparation Coordinator to join the team in Maputo, Mozambique. This individual will be responsible for overseeing daily Maputo Sample Preparation Unit and manage the workflow. Ensuring that an efficient and high-quality commodity surveying service is provided in order to meet the reporting deadlines and priorities agreed with AHK Head Office and clients.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Required Competencies

  • Trained in conflict management and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Highly proficient in English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead.
  • Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal.
  • Ability to work from own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Demonstrate good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good timekeeping.
  • Energetic and self-starter.
  • Commitment to safe working practices.
  • Must have sober habits.
  • No criminal record.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Matric (with maths & science).
  • Supervisor Certificate would be an advantage.

 

Required work experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in a Sample Prep or laboratory environment specific to metals and minerals.
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025.
  • Knowledge of the different laws (Labour, Safety).
  • Knowledge of sampling methodology.
  • Knowledge of Labs Management (LIMS) software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
